Colourful Birthday

If writers can have writer’s block, can crafters have crafter’s block? For the past weeks I have been struggling to get inspired and motivated to create new cards. I do not know if the heat wave is melting away my brain (this is the third or fourth heat wave this year) or if I am in need of a holiday. Admittedly, I had to force myself to sit at my desk and craft – I know this is not ideal, but I think it worked out well. I made this colourful birthday card:

I used my Distress Inks as watercolours and created a rainbow background with my paintbrush and acrylic block. The colours are Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmelade, Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers. I chose these particular colours because I had found this colour combination on Pinterest a while ago – and I really liked it. With the largest die from Lawn Fawn’s Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables set, I die-cut the rainbow background to measure 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

From white cardstock, I die-cut the Scripty Happy-die three times and adhered them on top of each other to give the word some dimension. I, then, took black cardstock and the smallest of the Everyday Sentiment Banners dies; on this die-cut, I stamped the “birthday”-sentiment from Let’s Bokeh with Lawn Fawn’s Yeti Ink. To finish, I adhered everything onto the rainbow background.

At first I was not sure if I would participate in the current Lawn Fawnatics challenge. Eventually, I decided to enter this card – the colours fit the criteria and maybe I can inspire others to create cool cards.

I know that this colourful birthday card is a very simple card but since I am trying to find my “spark” again, I am glad that I was able to make something nice… I thank you very much for stopping by! I hope that I will be back soon with more cards.

Supplies I used:

  • Ranger Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmelade, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers
  • Lawn Fawn die sets: Scripty Happy, Everyday Sentiment Banners, Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables
  • Lawn Fawn stamp sets: Let’s Bokeh
  • Lawn Fawn inks: Yeti Ink
  • other: paintbrush, acrylic block, watercolour paper, white cardstock, black cardstock, liquid glue
